But what does it actually mean? And why is it said that there is not just one, but several “Seals of Solomon”?

○ King Solomon is a biblical ruler known for his wisdom, wealth, and for building the First Temple in Jerusalem. In religious texts, he is portrayed as a just and insightful king, but in later legends his image expands — Solomon becomes a figure who possesses secret knowledge, understands the language of spirits, and owns an object of immense power.

○ According to popular mystical traditions, Solomon had a ring or seal that allowed him to:
• command spirits and demons,
• protect himself and his kingdom,
• reveal hidden truths,
• “bind” beings or forces through symbols.

○ What Is the Seal of Solomon?
Most commonly, the term “Seal of Solomon” refers to the six-pointed star — a shape formed by two interlocking triangles.
This symbol is also known as:
• the Hexagram
• the Star of David (in a later historical context)
• the Solomon’s knot (in some decorative variations)
It’s important to note that across different eras and traditions, the “Seal of Solomon” has not always been represented by the same symbol. Sometimes it appears as the six-pointed star, sometimes as a five-pointed star, and sometimes as complex magical diagrams called “seals,” found in grimoires and occult texts.

○ Symbolism of the Six-Pointed Star: Balance and Unity
The two triangles of the hexagram are often interpreted as opposites that complement each other:

△ Upward-pointing triangle — spirit, fire, masculine energy, reaching toward the heavens
▽ Downward-pointing triangle — matter, water, feminine energy, descending toward the earth

Their interlocking form symbolizes:
• the union of heaven and earth,
• balance between the inner and outer world,
• harmony between reason and intuition,
• control over chaos through knowledge.
That’s why in many esoteric traditions, the Seal of Solomon is seen as a symbol of protection, wholeness, and authority over the unseen.

○ The Pentagram as the “Seal of Solomon” — In some traditions, a pentagram (the five-pointed star) is used instead of the hexagram and is also sometimes called the “Seal of Solomon.”
This is because in medieval magical symbolism, the pentagram is associated with:
• the five elements (earth, water, air, fire, and spirit),
• the human being as a microcosm,
• protection against evil forces.
Interestingly, different manuscripts and occult writings offer different versions of which symbol is the “true” seal. This reflects how living and adaptable this image has been throughout history and imagination.

○ The Seals of Solomon in Occult Texts
When speaking of “seals” in a more technical sense, we enter another layer of the topic — magical seals used in ceremonial magic.
In famous occult compilations (grimoires), many seals are linked to Solomon — symbols said to be used for summoning, binding, or controlling specific spiritual entities.

○ One of the most well-known traditions claims that Solomon commanded 72 spirits, each with its own unique sign or seal.
These symbols are often:
• complex line-based diagrams,
• resembling a “code” or hidden script,
• used as part of ritual practices.
Even for those who don’t believe in magic literally, these seals remain fascinating as cultural artifacts — a mixture of religion, fear, the desire for power, and the search for meaning.

○ Today, the symbol appears everywhere:
• in jewelry and amulets,
• in tattoos,
• in interior decor,
• in books, films, and video games.
The reason is simple: it carries a sense of mystery, power, and deep symbolism. For some, it is a religious sign; for others, a magical emblem; and for many, simply a beautiful geometric design.

○ One of the most intriguing aspects of the Seals of Solomon is their dual meaning.
• On one hand, they are associated with:
⚔ protection, balance, harmony, wisdom
• On the other, with:
[!] power, control, secret knowledge, domination over unseen forces
Perhaps this is the most human part of Solomon’s legend: the desire to be protected, and the temptation to control what we do not fully understand.

▻ The Seals of Solomon are far more than a star or a decorative symbol. They are a gateway into a world of legends, religious layers, mystical traditions, and symbolism that continues to evolve and be retold.

▻ Whether they are true magical tools or cultural myths depends on one’s perspective. But one thing is certain:
symbols live as long as people continue to interpret them.
